Birdwatching... fishing Jabirus, dancing Brolgas or flocks of screeching, clowning Galahs .... is an unforgetable experience.
The diversity and numbers of birds in the coastal aquatic ecosystems provides a unique birdwatching experience...
 | Can you spot the fish? The Jabiru is Australia's only stork. They are expert at fishing among the reeds and lillies in the shallow billabongs. This bird can be identified as a male by the colour of his eyes. During the mating season the male jabiru's engage in deadly air-to-air combatwith the winner taking the females.Even when they knock an opponent out of the air, they have been seen to follow them down for the coup-de-grace. |

Flocks of pelicans resting after fishing all morning.
 | This jabiru returns every year to the river - she ( note the yellow eyes ) has learnt that there is usually a feed to found around curious tourists. You will never hear her complain about anything she is given - the jabiru is a voiceless bird! |
A sea eagle strikes a meal offered from a boat. These eagles nest in trees along the coastal river banks and often provide a photo opportunity for visitors.
