Crocodile Pictures

Good crocodile pictures can be hard to get as the animals are difficult to approach in their natural habitat. The photos on this page were all taken from the Adelaide River Queen by people enjoying the one day tour from Darwin.

Attacking crocodile

This photo By Marcella captures the energy of an attacking crocodile.

crocodile standing in the water Another photo By Marcella catches this crocodile apparently standing on it's hind legs in the water. In fact the water here is quite deep, and the crocodile is suppoted by the swimming actions of it's tail.

crocodile crawling onto the mud bank A large Saltie crawls up a mud bank . Crocs are quite at home on land and during the wet season will travel considerable distances looking for a mate or a new territory.
Camping anywhere close to water is not reccommended - there have been several instances of attacks on campers in recent years.

A bite like this is best viewed from a safe distance.

Small croc in the sun

A small crocodile finds a safe place on a mud bank to soak up some sun. The biggest danger faced by small animals is bigger crocs and they must avoid them if they are to survive themselves.

Large croc on the move

A large animal on the move - they can move very quickly over short distances, even though they can also stay completely immobile for long periods as they wait for prey to happen by.
