Darwin Australia
Adventure Capital of the Northern Territory

The City of Darwin Australia - the destination of travellers seeking adventure and people looking for a different lifestyle and prosperity in a booming real estate and mineral resources market. Darwin has a colourful history beginning in 1870 whenthe Overland Telegraph arrived in Australia and ensured the survival of many small towns in the Outback which were needed to maintain and operate the telegraph.

Today it is an attractive modern city with a population of around 110,000 and growing. In earlier times it was often isolated from the rest of Australia by wet season flooding, now modern roads are rarely cut and the railway opened in 2004 ensures supplies get through.

Work on the new railway progesses across one of the 90 bridges built along the 1420k long section from Darwin to Alice Springs.darwin rail bridge

There are many attractive and interesting sites around the city, and many world famous nearby such as Litchfield Park with it's waterfalls, the jumping crocodiles on the Adelaide River and the wetlands of of Kakadu National Park. Darwin is also the closest city to many of Australias more remote destinations such as Katherine Gorge, the Kimberly's and Lake Argyle in West Australia and has become the hub of the north.
