Litchfield Tour photos
These Litchfield Tour photos highlight the diversity of the Australian Outback. Leaving Darwin in the early morning the tour travels through coastal plains, dry tropical forest and ancient sandstone hills to visit wetlands, crocodiles and beautiful waterfalls before returning in the evening. Each tour is a unique experience with a marked difference between the lush greens of the monsoonal wet season and the clear blue skys of the dry season. Traditionally the dry season, has been the busiest time for visitors to these regions, however with new all-season sealed roads now making travel practical in the wet, more people are visiting through the wet season to see the astonishing transformation that takes place with the annual rains.

 | Water Lillys flourish in these conditions, making ideal conditions for lurking crocodiles to hide while they wait for prey. Vivid blues and pinks add colour to the rich greens of aquatic plants. |
| This crocodile allowed the boat to come within touching distance- of course no-one felt like giving it a friendly pat on the head! | |
 | | Cycads and pandanus palms are common in the dry areas of the Litchfield Park. |

 A small bushfire burns harmlessly along the roadside. Fires are a natural part of the cycle of nature in Australia. In fact many of the plants depend on them for their regeneration as their seeds will not germinate without the heat of a fire. |
 A tourist standing beside one of the magnetic anthills gives an idea of the size of these incredible structures. Built by termites, these Meridian Termite Mounds are aligned on a north-south axis to take maximum advantage of shade. | Visitor Book Comment;
